Sprinkling Mischief
Sprinkling mischief
In the 8th standard, I faced a daily race against time to catch my chartered bus home, which arrived at 3.25pm, just ten minutes after the school bell at 3.15pm. Missing the bus meant facing my father’s stern glare, enough to make anyone cry. To save precious minutes, I would meticulously pack my bags around 3pm.
But one day, the school had us stay back after class to pray for rain. My thoughts were fixated on the bus schedule, and I was more worried about missing it than being spiritual. This continued for nearly a week, and my race to the bus became more frantic each day.
Then, an ingenious idea struck me. I filled an empty plastic bottle with water, using one that previously contained nebasulf powder. As the teacher asked us to close our eyes and pray, I positioned myself close to her and squeezed the bottle, spraying water all over her and the unsuspecting students around.
In that very moment, the teacher exclaimed, “I can sense the Lord hearing our prayer! I feel rain!” I couldn’t help but giggle, and it didn’t take long for her to figure out who the mischievous rainmaker was.
After that incident, there were no more post-class prayer sessions. I may not have brought actual rain, but I did bring some unintended laughter to the school, and it became a humorous memory that I’ll cherish for years to come.
